See you soon
I am busy in the background making changes to the doll's site so if pages or pictures disappear know that I am here tearing my hair out! Hope that it will all be done by the end of this week!
See you soon
After the Christmas rush and taking a break over the holiday period I was busy thinking about new dolls for 2015...when the flu struck! It was my turn I suppose after 5 years of just having the occasional sneeze. It has taken me some time to recover and in September I shall be first in the queue for a "flu jab"
My atelier was empty and quiet for 3 weeks, the sewing machine stood idle, my needles and threads remained tidy. I would occasionally wander into my studio then wander back to the sofa.
Isn't it wonderful when you start to recover from the flu, you know that you are going to live, you thought it was touch and go at times lol!
So now I am busy, busy again which is just the way that I like it, my atelier looks as if it has been attacked by several elephants, material, embroidery threads and doll parts everywhere.Wonderful creative chaos!
I have chosen some crisp and pretty candy striped seersucker, very Summery clothing for some new 16 inch toddler dolls. They should be in the Etsy Shop soon.
I have always loved the Patsy Dolls from Effanbee...The original ones made in the 1930s and 40s so maybe I have been influenced by this in the clothing and red hair of my latest doll. My Patsy is dressed with a few backward glances to the 1920s and 30s, with her felt cloche hat, embroidered dress and Mary Jane shoes.
She is pleased to meet you :)
Summer is now fading into Autumn but we still hope for a few sunny and warm days, it has not been a good Summer here so I am glad that I didn't rush out and buy any new clothes or sandals.Wellington boots have been the footwear of choice this year!
My thoughts now are all about Christmas dolls, the order book is nearly full and will probably be closed by the end of this month so if you are thinking about ordering, do it quickly! Thank you to all who have placed your orders, I have some lovely dolls to create...lots of dollmaking fun!
I have spoken about the naming of dolls before and how much fun it is for their new families to choose the dolls "real" name so...Aimée has become Sylvia which is of course her name. She has been re-united with her sister Libby, short for Liberty, they will be having lots of fun together I am sure and I look forward to hearing from them from time to time.
For my birthday in April I was given a new bridge camera,I love playing with it and the dolls are very patient as I whirl around like Bailey and Parkinson rolled into one. I can no longer blame my photographic tools but I do have a lot to learn!
Diana is my latest doll, she is a little girl dressed for a special day out with of course her "chapeau" and she behaved impeccably as I primped and posed her...she is that sort of girl!
You wait for a new doll, then 3 come along at once, just like London buses! I have been very busy with special order custom dolls and although it has been suggested that I give up sleeping, as this is just wasted dollmaking time, I am of an age where I definitely need my "Beauty Sleep"! So without more ado I would like to introduce Alix, Aimée and little Pippa.
This is my busiest time of the year and also the most fun, making special dolls for Christmas. I have had some lovely custom dolls to make this year so a big "Thank You" to all of you who have added to my "Christmas Dolls" making fun :)
I thought you might like to see how the dolls, perhaps your doll,started...
Some of these dolls will be flying off to find Christmas within the next few days...
Ingrid and her friend Gregory the Bear planning their escape from the light tent!
Gregory: Oooh Ingrid, that looks like a looong way down
Ingrid: Come on Gregory, we just jump...you go first!
